This also means that the guests have been spending much more in the local bars and restaurants. It has been noted that only has it been very difficult to book a last minute holiday due to demand but it has almost been impossible to book at table as some of the most popular beach restaurants.
In turn there have been more people buying businesses here on the coast which in turn has seen an increase in property prices for both businesses and residential.
Just over 81% was the average hotel occupancy. 2.4 million over night stays in hotels – the best yet. 60% of visitors where foreigners being that the traditional extra busy months of July and August were not just Spanish.
On a more personal note, we have noticed with the beaches in Fuengirola this summer that it has almost been impossible to see the sand for people. Things have certainly been more on the up for the Costa del Sol this year than any other year.
